What's this for and how does it work?
If you own a Tivo Series 2 then you can
hook this Excel Workbook up to your Now Playing list and watch shows on
your PC ...and since your in Excel it's easy analyze your recording
habits and Tivo usage with reports, charts, and pivot tables.
What Version of Excel do I need for
this to work?
You will need the latest version of Excel, Excel 2003 Pro.
What are the requirements for my
Tivo?
You'll need the latest Tivo Series 2
software that enables the Tivo 2 Go feature. Visit
http://www.tivo.com for instructions
on how to set it up.
How do I setup the workbook for my Tivo?
Switch to the XML_DATA tab, the color is red.
Right click on the data and choose XML -> Import. This should bring up a
file browse dialog. Use the following http path to import the XML:
https://<your
Tivo's IP>/TiVoConnect?Command=QueryContainer&Container=/NowPlaying&Recurse=Yes
Then click Import. You'll have to enter
the connection user name and password, the user name is
tivo, and the password is your
Media Access Key. After entering that
information and clicking ok, It'll take a minute
and then you'll have your Tivo's data imported. Switch to the pivot tab
(orange color) and right click on the data and choose refresh. This will
update the pivot table and charts with the new data. Tada, all done.
In the future when you want to load the new shows from your Tivo just switch to
the XML_DATA tab, right click and choose XML -> Refresh XML Data.
Do I need a hacked Tivo to get this to work?
Nope! Just the latest system update from
Tivo, visit http://www.tivo.com to ensure you
have the latest Tivo software on your Tivo.
I have Excel 2003, but I cannot find the XML
import command...
You probably have Excel 2003 standard or teacher
edition, right now this worksheet requires Excel 2003 Pro to function correctly.
I get this error while trying to import:
"This method or property is available only in Microsoft Office 2003
Professional." (Matt B.)
